Elle Billman and Family
“When my daughter, Elle went through chemotherapy she was
very sensitive to bright sunlight. A shaded playground, like the
Magical Bridge Playground, would provide entertainment
outdoors for children undergoing leukemia and cancer
treatments. Children receiving treatment at Packard Children‛s
Hospital or staying at the Ronald McDonald House would be
only 10 minutes away from this park."
- Dawn Billman, Mother of Elle

Karl Garcia and Family
“One of the things that living in a wheelchair means is the loss
of being able to interact with your children on a human level -
there is always this barrier of access. The Magical Bridge
Playground would allow us to connect at a basic level - one
without physical barriers."
- Karl Garcia, Palo Alto Resident

The Villarreal Family
“There are currently no playgrounds in our neighborhood where
Ava can explore the magic of independent play. I am always
right behind her to make sure she doesn't trip on uneven
surfaces. She also isn‛t able to play with many of her school
friends since some of them can‛t get across wood chips and
sand.”
- Olenka Villarreal, Mother of Ava and Emma

Rita Botti
“Everyone calls my grandma Nana. She loved to help out when
it came to children, baking apple pies, reading stories, and
going to the park. As she got older, she had more and more
trouble walking. Now, it‛s us kids who are taking care of her.
She loves going to the parks, but it can be really difficult with
her in a wheelchair. Plus, it seems like the parks are really all
about the kids, and there is no place for the grandparents to
just sit and relax. I would just like to be able to return the
favor for all the times she took me to have some fun.”
- Kendra Kirsch, Granddaughter of Rita |
