Every July, organizations raise Disability Pride flags, post graphics on social media, and share messages about inclusion. But every year I find myself asking the same question: What actually changes for disabled people on August 1?

Playgrounds were not designed for me—or for anyone who couldn’t climb stairs, swing from monkey bars, or interact with equipment in a “typical” way. Yet, every child deserves a place to play, and every community has the power to make that a reality.
